Chiropractic is a health care profession that specializes in disorders of the musculoskeletal system, nervous system, and its effects to the patient in general.

Usually, Chiropractic treatment is used to cure neuromusculoskeletal problems such as lower back pain, neck pain, headaches and pain in the joints of the arms or legs. The treatment is administered by Doctors of Chiropractic, or chiropractors. The process starts with an examination, followed by diagnosis, and then the patient is treated with either manual therapy or spinal manipulation.

Chiropractic adjustment or spinal manipulation is done to restore joint mobility caused by tissue injury. It is performed through manual application of controlled force into joints that become hypomobile or restricted in their movement. Tissue injury is usually caused by a single traumatic event like repetitive sitting in an awkward position, improper spinal posture for a long time, or improper lifting of a heavy object. Any of those scenarios can cause physical and chemical changes that cause inflammatory pain or immobility of joints.

Chiropractic adjustment may cause rare discomfort, mild soreness or aching after the treatment. These side effects fade within 12 to 48 hours, depending on the patient’s body reaction. Nevertheless, once treated with spinal manipulation, mobility will be restored, and affected tissues will be healed.

Here at MultiCare Medical, our Chiropractors have been trained to perform effective therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises for our patients. They will also provide nutritional guidance and counseling for extended results.
